Powermax 30 (DISCONTINUED): Upgrade Guide & Replacements
The Powermax line of plasma cutters by Hypertherm consists of portable, professional quality machines. The Powermax series is well-known for its performance, simple controls, and reliability for beginner to professional welders. The original Powermax 30 was last manufactured in March 2014 and is succeeded by the Powermax 30XP and the Powermax 30 Air.
The Powermax 30XP is a highly portable plasma cutting machine designed for a wide array of cutting jobs and is the most direct successor to the Powermax 30. Featuring a “two-in-one” design, the Powermax 30XP is able to cut thick metal as well as thin metal using FineCut consumables. The 30XP allows for two voltage capacities, meaning you can plug it into a 240V or standard household 120V power supply.
The Powermax 30 AIR, another descendant of the Powermax 30, is the smallest, lightest handheld plasma cutter in its class. This small plasma cutter features its own built-in air compressor and is even dual-voltage. You can use it as a 120V or 240V plasma cutter, depending on your power source.
