Magswitch
Welders Supply is pleased to offer a wide range of welding and lifting magnets from Magswitch. These are, without a doubt, some of the best designed and best made welding magnets we have seen.
Magswitch specializes in developing new technologies in switchable magnetics using rare earth magnets. Their technologies are literally, as they say, “Changing the way things are done.” While striving to create new solutions to the challenges faced by industries, they put equal emphasis on the safety of workers and the environment.
Their patented technology does not rely on electricity to activate their magnets. Instead, two diametrically polarized magnets are place on top of each other. Rotating the top magnet 180 degrees aligns the poles of both magnets to create a powerful magnetic field, while rotating it back 180 degrees collapses the magnetic field. This effectively creates an ON/OFF switch for their magnets that requires no electrical current.
The ability to easily power off the magnets greatly simplifies cleanup of the magnets. Metal shards that accumulate on them shed easily when the device is in the OFF position. This also prevents damage to electronic devices stored near them.
Additionally, the precision shapes of Magswitch housings create a focused magnetic field, which allows them to achieve more holding power on thinner materials than any other permanent magnet in the industry.
Founded in Australia in 2004, Magswitch now has headquarters in Denver, an office in Korea, an R& D facility in Germany dedicated to the next generation of tools, and manufacturing operations in China. In addition to tools used in welding and fabrication, Magswitch also designs and manufactures woodworking tools and magnets for automation, and marine applications.
