Hypertherm Powermax 85/105 Nozzle 85A #220816
The Hypertherm Powermax 85 and Hypertherm Powermax 105 Nozzle #220816 from Welder Supply directs the flow of plasma for precise cutting. When a powered electrode and plasma cutter nozzle touch metal, it creates a spark to heat the gas into plasma. The orifice in the nozzle constricts the arc to a specific diameter. The arc does not actually touch the nozzle. The plasma gas provides a thin boundary layer of cool gas, separating the arc and nozzle.
- If the current level is too high or gas flow too low, the arc may contact the cutting nozzle causing a double arc. This will damage the nozzle, increasing its diameter.
- The nozzle must be checked frequently and, if needed, corrected or you could have a poorly focused arc. This will cause a bad cut finish.
- If a nozzle is gouged or if the hole is out of round, it should be replaced. Piercing or cutting too fast can also damage the nozzle.
- A worn nozzle will cause cut quality to deteriorate. Your Powermax 85 or Powermax 105 plasma cutter is a huge investment. Protect it with the Hypertherm Powermax 85/105 Nozzle 85A Part #220816 from Welder Supply.
These nozzles are a great value, offered in packs of five. Check out the other plasma cutter consumables for the Hypertherm Powermax 85/105 Welders Supply offers.

Product Questions and Answers
Q - What does the nozzle do?
A - Nozzles focus the arc by funneling gas flow.
Q - When should I change the nozzle?
A - You should change your nozzle whenever you see notching, an orifice that isn't round, or rounded edges during regular inspection.
Q - Do I need to replace anything else when I replace the nozzle?
A - It is recommended that when a nozzle wears out, the electrode is replaced, and when an electrode is replaced, the nozzle should also be replaced to keep cuts consistent and precise.
