Gas MIG Welders (GMAW)
Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) employs a continuously fed, consumable wire electrode and an external shielding gas for protection, enabling superior weld quality and control over flux core (FCAW) due to its cleaner weld pool and wider range of applicable materials.

MIG welding requires gas. This gas comes in various forms and mixtures, which we also sell at our brick-and-mortar stores, but its purpose never changes. You are shielding the molten metal pool from the environment to prevent the weakening or damaging of the weld. If this is not done with very thin material the cooled metal will become porous and weak in comparison to a proper weld. The other thing to be mindful of is the spatter. Gas MIG welders weld with gas to protect the pool of metal, but the wire it feeds (or pulls to the tip of the torch) can at times become scattered across the workspace. This being the case you can protect the project with splash guards, splash shields, and even just chip and sand away at it with the burs and grinders that are also sold here.
