Welding fumes are an occupational hazard that cannot be ignored. Fortunately, Miller has a line of fume extraction systems capable of removing nearly all airborne particulates generated by welding processes. The FILTAIR SWX-S Single-Arm Package on this page is ideal for both fabrication shops and manufacturing environments.
This FILTAIR system can be mounted on a wall or column near a workstation. This package comes with a 10 ft. ZoneFlow™ arm, which allows for exceptional reach. Miller’s ZoneFlow™ technology creates a larger fume capture area than source-capture designs, while also minimizing arm interactions. Other SWX-S systems are available with a 7 ft., or 12 ft. length arm.
MERV 15 Filter Rating for high-efficiency filtering
The filters in fume extraction systems are rated on the MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) scale, which rates filter efficiency based on particle count. MERV ratings range from 1 to 16, with 16 being the best at filtering the most hazardous sub-micron particles in welding fumes. Miller’s proprietary FilTek XL filters have a MERV rating of 15 and can filter up to 98% of weld fume particulates.
Miller’s SWX self-cleaning filter cabinet makes cleaning the filter as easy as pushing a button on the control panel to initiate a one-minute cleaning cycle. Removed particles are collected in a disposal drawer that slides out so it can be emptied.

Features Overview
ZoneFlow™ Technology - Creates a negative pressure zone that funnels air to the center of the arm from greater distances. The arm rotates 360-degrees for unlimited positioning.
Easy-to-Operate ZoneFlow™ Arm - External adjustments allow fine tuning of air passing through arm for dialing in a stronger airflow. Design enables accurate positioning across the full range of motion of the arm, as well as easy adjustment and maintenance for long-lasting operation. Additional arms are available in 7-, 10- or 12-foot lengths.
Less Arm Movement - With a capture zone 3 times larger than other systems, users have less interaction with the arm, increasing arc-on time and productivity.
Class Leading Suction Power - High-performance fan generates 1,200 CFM and creates an Accu-Rated minimum of 875 CFM extraction at the hood for better capture of weld fumes and a cleaner environment.
Dual Fan Capture Zone Control - Keep both sides of the fans turned on for a 360 degree capture zone, or turn one side off to position next to a wall or curtain for a 180 degree capture zone.
Miller® FilTek® XL Filter Technology - FilTek XL Filter Technology has a filter life up to 2 times that of treated cellulous filters and filters up to 95% of weld fume particulate. FilTek XL's surface loading filters vs. competitors depth loading filters enable easier and more complete filter cleaning, longer filter life, and more efficient air flow thru the filter for lower operating costs and a cleaner work space.
Self-Cleaning Filter Model - The self-cleaning filter model captures weld fume particulate with a cleanable filter and deposits them in an integrated particle bin for easy disposal.
MERV 15 Filter Rating - With 16 being the highest MERV filter rating, this system is among the best in the industry.
One Minute Cleaning Cycle - The one-minute filter cleaning cycle is activated with the push of a button on the control panel. A disposal drawer slides out to make emptying out the collected particles easy. (Compressed air is required to operate this cleaning mechanism)
